Customer Review: Missing aspects I was looking for.
After doing lots of reading from investing books, I wanted to learn more about the REIT asset class of investments. This book had some good information, but the main information I was looking for was how taxes are reported and why they are fairly complicated. The author only gave a two page appendix on taxes. I felt like he spent way too much time on why you should invest in REIT’s and the aspects of when to buy and what to look for individual REIT’s and not the big picture of owning REIT’s in an mutual fund or REIT index fund. I was more concerned on how taxes affect your investment’s location (Taxable vs. Tax Advantaged) and that was totally ignored. Dissapointed.
Customer Review: Great intro to REITS
Great book for someone trying to get a basic understanding of REITs written from an investor’s perspective.

Customer Review: A complex topic well done
It isn’t easy to write a book about investing in commodities—the topic can seem simple but can quickly become quite complex. The authors have done a very good job. My only criticism is that I would have liked to have seen more on ETFs and strategies for trading commodities (collars, swaps, etc). But it is probably best that the authors kept it simple enough to inform without causing confusion. It makes an excellent desk reference for someone wishing to learn more about commodities.
Customer Review: A good basic primer
It’s a good fundamental primer on most of the products in the commodities markets, discussing the supply and demand characteristics of the underlying products. It doesn’t spend much time on trading or technical characteristics – the book is clearly aimed at introducing traders to the products they’re actually trading, to the extent traders find that necessary. Useful discussion of energy products, crack spreads, as well as ethanol and agricultural products.

Get the Skinny on Silver Investing

Get the Skinny on Silver Investing Customer Review: Best Information About Silver I’ve Come Across
David Morgan the author, has done one of the best jobs I’ve ever seen, in explaining the demand and supply problems that presently are causing silver prices to move up. He not only covers silver, but gold as well, just not in as much detail. If your considering buying or investing in silver, this book is a must. If your not thinking about silver as an investment you need this book even more. He not only proves his point, he gives plenty of online sites to investagate the case for silver moving up. Written in 2006 the information is up to date and right to the point….
Customer Review: An interesting book on silver investing
Content:
The book contain 11 short chapters which takes us from the fundamentals driving the silver sector as the supply and demand in Chapter 1, then the misconception that photography is the major driver of the silver sector (Chapter 3), fraudulent activities of the silver & gold leasing (Chapter 4). David Morgan explains very well, why silver is money and not a commodity in Chapter 6. Chapter 7 is devoted to the new uses for silver and the coming demand squeeze, Then from chapter 8 to 10 he briefly discuss different types of investments alternatives in the sector with bullion and coins, silver & mining stocks and leveraged type of investments. He finishes with some future price projections for silver.

Bull’s Eye Investing: Targeting Real Returns in a Smoke and Mirrors Market

Bull’s Eye Investing: Targeting Real Returns in a Smoke and Mirrors Market A must-read investment roadmap to help investors target real returns in the market
The era of buying and holding stocks is gone-and will not return for some time. Investors need to learn to target where the market is going to be, not where it has been. Knowing where the economy and markets are going is the key to successful investing in the future. Financial expert John Mauldin makes a powerful, almost irrefutable case regarding the future direction of the markets. He then details a new approach to investing that will allow readers to adjust to what he demonstrates is the new reality of investing. Investors need to become familiar with “absolute return” vehicles, including hedge funds, certain types of bonds, and other value-oriented investments, if they intend to make money and retire comfortably. Mauldin argues that traditional stock portfolios should not be the primary investment vehicle for individual investors. Indeed, he credibly argues they will be a disappointment, if not a disaster, over the next decade, mirroring the results of similarly difficult markets like the 1970s. He shows readers how they must look for other options and be wary of the marketing promises and data used by brokers and mutual funds to attract investors. Filled with in-depth insight, copious groundbreaking research and practical advice, Leading the Markets will help readers choose stable and secure investments that will enable them to profit in turbulent markets.
John Mauldin (Richland Hills, TX) is President of Millennium Wave Investments. He has more than 20 years experience in the investment world, formerly serving as CEO of the American Bureau of Economic Research and was a partner in ProFutures Investments.
Customer Review: A very useful read — And perhaps even right!
Here we are in Feb 2008 and it appears the bear market is upon us, and possible recession. Reading the book (I haven’t finished it yet) in this context makes his predictions seem relatively accurate. Regardless of the validity of his predictions, the first part of the book provides many thought-provoking ideas. I’ve skipped ahead to his very valuable discussion of psychological issues that cause us to make systematic investment mistakes.
