Camera Lucida: Reflections on Photography

Camera Lucida: Reflections on Photography

This personal, wide-ranging, and contemplative volume–and the last book Barthes published–finds the author applying his influential perceptiveness and associative insight to the subject of photography. To this end, several black-and-white photos (by the likes of Avedon, Clifford, Hine, Mapplethorpe, Nadar, Van Der Zee, and so forth) are reprinted throughout the text.

Customer Review: Just this..
The only disparaging thing I can say about this book is that it caused me to purchase a better dictionary.
Customer Review: shocked
I am somewhat stunned and dismayed by the negative reviews of this book. In fact, it has seem to elicit a sense of vitriol in some.

The Usborne Internet-Linked Encyclopedia Of World History

The Usborne Internet-Linked Encyclopedia Of World History Customer Review: A page turner
I bought this book at the request of my homeschooling sister. She says that she and her almost 5 year old read a few pages a day and are already halfway done with the book. She says each section is brief, but would help to build a broad basic knowledge. It is a good starting point for deeper research. I looked it over before I gave it to her and it is a very appealing book. It is full of illustrations that look like they would be hours of educational entertainment.
Customer Review: Beautiful illustrations
This is a beautifully illustrated history of the world. It’s a bit dry, but if you can make it through, it gives one a good sense of perspective.

How Do Dinosaurs Eat Their Food?

How Do Dinosaurs Eat Their Food?

How does a dinosaur eat all his food?Does he burp, does he belch, or make noises quite rude?Does he pick at his cereal, throw down his cup, hoping to make someone else pick it up? Just like kids, dinosaurs have a difficult time learning to behave at the table. However, with a little help from Mom and Dad, these young dinosaurs eat all before them with smiles and goodwill. As in their previous books, Yolen and Teague capture children’s rambunctious natures with playful read-aloud verse and wonderfully amusing pictures.

Customer Review: great book
Hilarious yet education pictures. Short questions that children can answer themselves and also receive proper, precise answers on how a child is suppose to eat at a table and in public.
Customer Review: Very good
Some books I cannot stand reading over and over but this one I absolutely love to read. The illustrations are cute and colorful. The message is awesome something kids can relate to.
